Gregor Stähli

Gregor Stähli ( born February 28, 1968 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss Skeleton drivers. He was three times world champion (1994, 2007, 2009 ) and won two Olympic bronze medals.

1989 Stähli drove for the first time a skeleton competitions. Already in the following year he won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Koenigssee. In 1992 he was runner-up in Calgary, in 1993 he won the World Cup in La Plagne the bronze medal, followed in 1994 the world champion title in Altenberg. After these successes he resigned and devoted himself to the study of business administration at the University of St. Gallen. In between, he tried his hand at bobsledding as well as in athletics and in 1995 at the Swiss Championships sixth in the 100 -meter run.

When he heard that skeleton would again be an Olympic sport, he attempted a comeback in 1999 and has established itself once again lead the world. So in 2000 he was at the World Cup in Igls for the second time Vice World Champion. At the 2002 Winter Olympics he won the bronze medal. Followed each a silver medal at the 2004 European Championships in Altenberg and at the 2005 World Championships in Calgary as well as the European Champion title in 2006 in St. Moritz. At the Olympic Winter Games 2006, he was the second time a third party. On the day of his birthday Stähli was. At the 2009 World Championships in Lake Placid at the age of 41 years for the third time world champion In the Skeleton World Cup Stähli has won ten races in the 2001/2002 season he won the overall World Cup. In addition, he is eleven times Swiss champion.

After Stähli since November 2009 could deny no more championships because of a thigh injury, he gave in November 2010 announced his retirement.
