The Johann -Jakob Christoph von Grimmelshausenmuseum price is a German literary prize, which is awarded every two years since 1993. It is named after the author of Simplicissimus Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausenmuseum, who was born in Gelnhausen, and died in Renchen.

Objectives

It is granted to authors, have " the ... made ​​in the previous six years through a narrative work ... a remarkable contribution to the artistic exploration of contemporary history" (according to the articles of association ).

Structures

Donors are the cities of Gelnhausen and Renchen and the states of Baden -Württemberg and Hesse. He is endowed with 10,000 euros. A division is excluded by statute. Own applications for the price are not provided. About the award is decided by a respective selected six-year three-member panel of experts.

It will be presented annually, alternately in Gelnhausen and Renchen by the mayor of each city in a public ceremony in 1993 for the first time in Renchen. The related costs are assumed by the city in which the prize is awarded. Since 2003, a Grimmelshausenmuseum Prize will be awarded to non-established authors.
