Grímur Kamban

According to the Faroese themselves Grímur Kamban is said to have settled in what is now Funningur on the island Eysturoy. Today, it is assumed that this happened around the year 825 and not under the rule of Harald Fairhair, as Sagas.

Kamban grandson Þórólfur ( Tórolvur ) was nicknamed Smor ( = butter), because it contradicted the former thesis of Flóki Vilgerðarson that Iceland would consist only of ice ( hence the name), but is there to drip from every blade of grass butter.
