Large Bockau Wildenthal

The Great Bockau is an approximately 14 km long, right or southern tributary of the river Mulde in the Western Ore Mountains in Saxony.

Name

The name is derived from the altsorbischen Bukova for carrying water. There is also the place Bockau in Erzgebirgskreis.

Course

The Great Bockau rises south of the book comb near the Czech border at an altitude of about 930 m above sea level. NN and flows in a northerly direction at the foot of the mountain Auer past Upper Wildenthal and Wildenthal. South of the Great Room Sacher takes Bockau to the coming of Small Bockau right before it opens in about 480 m height at the former railway station Blue valley in the river Mulde.

History

The Great Bockau formerly served for timber floating as a feeder to the river Mulde. The power of the water used the hammer Wildenthal, among others over the 1555 -built Green ditch. North of Upper Wildenthal water of the Great Bockau is derived in a trench ( trench slope ) and led to the dam Sosa.
