The Green Mountain (Upper Hess ) Bahnhof is in addition to the breakpoints Lehnheim and Göbelnrod one of three located in service stations in the central Hessian town of Grünberg. It is located at kilometer 23.2 of the leading casting to Fulda bird mountain railway. Earlier this branched off on the Londorf by Lollar leading Lumdatalbahn and the leading on Lich and coins mountain to Butzbach Weather roller coaster from the main line.

History

The Green Berger station was opened with the first section of the bird mountain railway from Gießen to Green Mountain on December 29, 1869. Half a year later, the company continued construction of the Vogelsberg Railway to Alsfeld.

1896 Lumdatalbahn about Londorf was opened after Lollar. This Grünberg became a regional railway junction with heavy traffic. The Lumdatalstrecke served the needs of regional and freight services. From the beginning of operation of most of the trains were bound over to Lollar addition to Giessen. On May 26, 1963, the section Londorf Green Mountain was shut down and dismantled in 1965. For several years, this section is available today partly as ( Lumda Wieseck ) cycle path.

On 1 August 1909, the Lich Butzbach Railway ( roller coaster weather ) was completed with the extension of Lich to Grünberg. This had its own railway station, the Green Mountain South Railway Station, near the railway station Grünberg. On 4 October 1953, the route Lich Grünberg was shut down again.

Reception building

The station building of the Green Berger station is a two-story building. It now houses a mobility center of the transport company Oberhessen ( VGO).

Tracks

The Green 's train has two platform tracks at a house and a central platform. On the main platform ( platform 1) Trains leading destination mosquito / Alsfeld / Fulda. On track 2 the trains in the direction of rice Churches / Great -Buseck / casting. From track 3 you galngte sooner after Londorf and Lollar. Due dismantled points in the direction casting this track is currently unusable.

Freight yard

The freight station is adjacent to the tracks of the Green Berger station. Here are two overgrown tracks. In addition to the tracks is a large goods shed, which is, however, no longer used today.

Traffic

Green Mountain is located in the tariff area of the Rhine -Main Transport Association ( RMV).

The Green 's train is operated daily from regional trains running every hour of the relation Limburg ( Lahn) -Weilburg, Wetzlar - casting - Alsfeld ( Oberhess ) Fulda. In the weekday rush hour additional regional trains of the relation - casting Grünberg mosquito added, of which two end up in Green Mountain.

On Green 's train several bus lines that develop both the city and the surrounding area. In addition, bus runs from 1 May to end of October each year, the Vogelsberg volcanic Express.
