Gstaad

Gstaad [ kʃta ː d] is a village ( Bäuert ) in the Bernese Oberland. It is located on 1,050 m above sea level. Level and belongs to the municipality of Saanen in Switzerland.

Village

The village center is a car free zone since 1998. On the promenade, which is caused by the bypass, there are numerous exclusive shops, restaurants and hotels. All houses are built in a chalet style, which gives the place a special charm. Numerous celebrities spend their holidays here.

In Gstaad, the following regular events are located: The international men's tennis tournament Crédit Agricole Suisse Open, Beach Volleyball Grand Slam tournament FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, Polo Tournament Hublot Polo Gold Cup, the Gstaad Winter Games, the Gstaad Promenade Party, the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad and in September the Country Night Festival. In addition, the beach volleyball World Cup 2007 was held in Gstaad. During the Davidoff Saveurs Festival ( late summer ) are each several celebrity chefs from around the world in Saanen to spoil the international guests.

Tourism

Gstaad is part of the municipality of Saanen and is the tourist capital of the Saanen. Here spend many celebrities of the jet set their holidays, such as Roger Moore and Bernie Ecclestone, and in the past, Tony Curtis, Gunter Sachs, Curd Jürgens, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Princess Grace, Yehudi Menuhin and Axel Springer.
