Gudrun Wegner ( born February 28, 1955 in Görlitz, † January 16, 2005 in Dresden) was a German swimmer who competed for East Germany.

Career

Your strongest lines were long swimming distances, such as 400 meters, and 800 meters freestyle and 400 meters individual medley.

At the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, she won the 400m freestyle bronze medal. At the first World Swimming Championships 1973 in Belgrade, it was with a new world record time world champion in the 400 meters individual medley and was also the bronze medal in the 800 meters freestyle win.

In 1974 she became vice - European champion over 400 meters individual medley and bronze medalist in the 800 meters freestyle at the European Swimming Championships in Vienna. In the same year she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

She died on January 16, 2005 in Dresden from cancer.
