Günter Fronzeck

Günter Fronzeck ( born September 29, 1937) was football players in the highest DDR - Oberliga football class. There he played for the SC structure / 1 FC Magdeburg, with whom he DDR Cup winner was three times.

The defender and defensive midfielder came in 1963 at the age of almost 26 years to the DDR - Oberliga SC Magdeburg structure. Previously, he had the Sports Association turbine played at the then second force in Magdeburg football. With her he had begun in the fourth-class district of Magdeburg League and initially managed between 1959 and 1962 twice the rise in the DDR II league and then in the I. DDR -Liga.

Greater success achieved Fronzeck with the SC structure and its successor, the first FC Magdeburg. Already at the end of his first season at the club he was on 13 June 1964, the final of the East German soccer cup. As a left midfielder, he won with his team 3-2 over the SC Leipzig. A year later, on 8 May 1965 the Magdeburg were again in the cup final. This time they won 2-1 against SC Motor Jena, with Fronzeck in the central defense. The following 1965/66 season was bad for the now established 1.FC Magdeburg, because in the end he had to descend as Table in the second-rate DDR -Liga. So had to Fronzeck after three years playing for one season in the second division, but returned after he had completed 26 of the 30 league games, with his team immediately back into the league. After a respectable for a freshman third place in the 1967/68 season, the Magdeburg brought on 1 June 1969 for the third time the East German soccer cup. 4-0 over FC Karl- Marx-Stadt Fronzeck played right fullback.

Through his Cup wins to Magdeburg had also qualified for the competitions for the European Cup Winners' Cup. While Fronzecks active time the club played a total of thirteen games, of which Fronzeck played ten matches. The time farthest advance happened in the 1965/66 season, when the first FC Magdeburg came up in the quarter-finals. There Fronzeck was used in the two games against the FA Cup winners West Ham United ( 0:1 and 1:1).

As Fronzeck age of 34 after the 1971/72 season ended his active career, he had completed a total of 201 appearances for the SC structure and 1.FC Magdeburg. Among them were 137 games in the league and 28 missions in the GDR Cup games. As a defensive player, he brought it on only eight Goals in official matches.
