H. Jones

Herbert Jones VC OBE ( born May 4, 1940 in London, † May 28 1982 in the Falkland Islands) was a British officer.

Career

After graduating from Eton College and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Jones was founded in 1960 lieutenant of Devonshire and Dorset Regiment (1962 Lieutenant, 1966 Captain 1972 Major). In 1979 he became lieutenant-colonel in the British Parachute Regiment, where he was in 1981 commander of the 2nd Parachute Battalion (2 PARA ).

Jones fell in the Falklands War, when he personally led the assault in a difficult position on an Argentine position at Goose Green. For the Victoria Cross posthumously awarded to him was. Jones was on the Blue Beach Military Cemetery at San Carlos, East Falkland, buried. His Victoria Cross is located in the National Army Museum in London.
