Goose Green

Goose Green is a place on the Lafonia peninsula on East Falkland.

The place has about 70 inhabitants and is the second largest settlement in the Falkland Islands. It is located 3.2 kilometers south of Darwin on Choiseul Sound. It was founded in 1875 as a manufacturer of sebum and in 1982 was the scene of a battle of the Falklands War. The grounds of the Goose Green Farm, operating on the sheep and posture, comprises 1700 square kilometers.

The Battle of 1982

In the village hall of Goose Green about a hundred civilians were interned by the Argentine army, which had been brought to safety from Stanley here.

On 28 May 1982, the 2nd Parachute Battalion reached under Lieutenant-Colonel Herbert Jones to an Argentine association to gain access after Lafonia. The fight ended with a British victory and approximately 1,000 Argentine prisoners of war the following day.
