Hájek (Strakonice District)

Hájek is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located two kilometers southwest of Bavorov and belongs to Okres Strakonice.

Geography

The village is located in the foothills of the Bohemian Forest on the left side above the valley of Blanice. To the west hilltops of the 582 m high Hájek raise. Hájek is located on State Road 141 between Bavorov and Prachatice, east of the village leads the railway line to Prachatice over, the next train stop " Blanice " is located across the river in Blanická.

Neighboring towns are Bavorov in the northeast, Bavorovské Svobodné Hory in the east, in the southeast Blanice, Strunkovice nad Blanicí and Dvorec in the south, Dubská Lhota in the southwest, Borčice in the west and Tourov in the northwest.

History

The 1334 first documented the village was part of the rule Bavorov and was from 1355 the Helfenburg submissive. After the abolition of patrimonial the village came to Pisek circle. Seat of the court was Vodňany.

The place is dominated by agriculture. After its annexation to Bavorov on 26 November 1971, he was awarded on 1 January 1992 back its independence. Hájek is the place with the oldest buildings in Okres Strakonice, the average age of homes in 2007 was 87.5 years, which was about twice as high as the county average.
