Halil Altıntop
Halil Altıntop [ halil altɯntɔp ] ( born December 8, 1982 in Gelsenkirchen) is a Turkish football player who is under contract for the 2013/14 season at the Bundesliga FC Augsburg. His twin brother Hamit is also a professional footballer.
Career
Clubs
The striker began his career with his brother Hamit in black and white Gelsenkirchen -Süd. About the TuS Rotthausen and SG Wattenscheid 09, he moved in 2003 to the first FC Kaiserslautern, where he in 2005/ 06 made a breakthrough. In the scoresheet, he finished third in the Bundesliga, scoring 20 goals, a goal in the DFB Cup and a goal for the Turkish national team.
In 2006 he moved to FC Schalke 04, in which his brother Hamit was under contract. In the first league game for his new employer against Eintracht Frankfurt he scored a hit in the victory against 1 FSV Mainz 05 he had a double. In the first 18 games of the season Altıntop was in the starting of FC Schalke 04, favored by violations of its competitors Gerald Asamoah and Søren Larsen. Altıntop was considered particularly suitable for the 4- 3-3 system, the coach Mirko Slomka was playing that season. On 19 Round Altıntop was replaced by Gustavo Varela, who was injured 21 on game day again and thus Altıntop from 22 Matchday helped back into the starting XI. After the 26th Round Altıntop said from his participation in a game of the Turkish national team, for Schalke he was against it at every competitive game in the squad. After the last game he underwent a hernia operation. He had the procedure because of the many non- operational player in the Schalke squad delayed, though hobbled by the injury. During the season, he scored six goals for Schalke. Altıntop counted between 2006 and 2009 for Schalke's starting eleven. On 28 January 2010 Altıntop moved to league rivals Eintracht Frankfurt. His first there he extended only until the end of the season temporary contract in June 2010 to 30 June 2012. National
Like his brother, he played in the Turkish U- 21 team in 2005 and made the jump to the senior national team. Participation in a major tournament but was denied him. Although he was nominated in the extended squad for the 2008 European Championship in Austria and Switzerland, however, took place under national coach Fatih Terim no consideration for the final squad. Since November 2011, he was not called to play the national team.
