Markus Weinzierl

Mark Weinzierl ( born December 28, 1974 in Straubing ) is a former German football player and current coach.

Playing career

About the youth clubs TSV Straubing (until 1989 ) and 1st FC Passau (until 1994) as well as the other jurisdictions SV ( 1994/ 95) came Weinzierl to Bayern Munich, for the amateurs he played until 1999. For the first team squad he belonged in the season 1998/99, but came to no duty stake.

In 1999 he moved to the Stuttgarter Kickers, where he graduated to 2001 40 second division games. His debut in professional football, he announced on August 15, 1999 (1st Round ) at the 1:4 defeat in the away game against Alemannia Aachen; his only hit he succeeded in the following season, on December 16, 2000 ( 18th Round ) when he opened the scoring to make it 1-0 from the penalty spot in a 3-1 win at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen.

An injury forced him in 2005 to end his playing career. Weinzierl played seven games in the DFB Cup competition: (Stuttgarter Kickers 3), ( SpVgg Unterhaching 2), ( SSV Jahn Regensburg 2).

Coaching career

In April 2006, he returned as an assistant coach by Günter Güttler for later fourth division SSV Jahn Regensburg, where he held since November 2008 - the dismissal of Thomas Kristl - the position of head coach. He led the Upper Palatinate in the season 2011/12 on the Relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga. Weinzierl said about his early days as head coach, he had jumped into the cold water, swam and did not perish.

On May 17, 2012 - a few days after the rise of success with the Jahn - announced the FC Augsburg that Weinzierl / 13 the new head coach for the 2012 season will.
