Tayfun Korkut

Tayfun Korkut ( born April 2, 1974 in Stuttgart ) is a retired German -Turkish football player and current coach of Bundesliga club Hannover 96

Playing career

Clubs

Korkut grew up in Ostfildern near Stuttgart, and started in the district Ruit Turnerbund Ruit 1892 eV with the football games, then moved to the youth department of the Stuttgart Kickers and remained there until 1994.

After that he was appointed to the crew of the third division Stuttgarter Kickers. In 1995 he moved to the Turkish first division club Fenerbahce, stayed five seasons there and moved to Spain in 2000 to the first division club Real Sociedad San Sebastian, after three seasons to league rivals Espanyol. At the beginning of the season 2004/ 05 moved to the Turkish first division club Korkut Beşiktaş Istanbul, in the 2005 /06 Premier League rivals for Gençlerbirligi Ankara.

National

Tayfun Korkut played between 1995 and 2003 42 caps for the senior national team of Turkey and participated with her in 1996 at the European Championships in England and 2000 in the European Championship in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Coaching career

Korkut ended his playing career in 2006 and 2007 began his coaching career in the youth department of his former club Real Sociedad. In the 2009/10 season, he was responsible for the U -17 team TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as head coach. In March 2011, he earned his soccer coach license to the Hennes Weisweiler Academy in Cologne and thus has the UEFA Pro Licence.

For the 2011/12 season Korkut was the new head coach of the U-19 team of VfB Stuttgart. At the end of the year, he broke his contract, since he had received from the Turkish Football Federation offer: From 1 January 2012, he worked as an assistant coach of the Turkish national team. Following the resignation of the national team coach Abdullah Avcı in August 2013 Korkut was the successor Fatih Terim not taken into account in the coaching staff.

On 31 December 2013 he was introduced as the new coach of Hannover 96. He received a valid contract until 30 June 2016.

Trivia

He is by Özcan Arkoç the second Turkish-born head coach in the German Bundesliga.
