Hallerstraße (Hamburg U-Bahn station)

The Haller street forms the border between the districts of Hamburg Harvestehude Rother tree. It extends from the road train Grindelberg / Grindelallee in the west to the middle east and crosses it Rothenbaumchaussee.

The Haller street is named after Nicolaus Ferdinand Haller, Senator and Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, and not to his (now well known ) son Martin Emil Ferdinand Haller.

During the Nazi period in 1936, the street, as well as the eponymous subway stop, renamed Ostmarkstraße because Haller was Jewish. After the war ended in 1945 both received the old name again.

Subway station

Under the crossing Hallerstraße / Rothenbaumchaussee is the opened on June 2, 1929 metro stop Hallerstraße the KellJung - line, now a part of the line U1. It binds to, among other things, the obvious Tennis Stadium, the media center Rothbaum, radio department and management of the Norddeutscher Rundfunk and many parts of the University of Hamburg to the Hamburg- speed rail network. It is also called Additional Multimedia Centre Rother tree.

Formerly also referred to the Rothbaum stadium of Hamburger SV and other sports pitches directly at the station Hallerstraße. Today You Are Here residential and commercial buildings as well as the multimedia center.

The station has inputs for the construction of the Alster half-ring in the form of a modified support structure in the middle of the platform. This would for the proposed crossing, the Alster under crossing to the east line of a staircase can be built.

In the transformation and modernization of the station here in 1997, who lives in Hamburg artist Jürgen Linden created an installation consisting of a painted on the ground tennis court with two tennis player paintings in acrylic at its ends.

The Metrobus route 15 passes through the Hallerstraße among others with stops at the underground station and ends at the middle in the Buskehre ( Alsterchaussee ). Bus number 34 runs through the Rothenbaumchaussee in north-south direction and also stops at the Haller Street subway station.
