Halo-halo

Halo - halo ( from Tagalog mishmash, mix ) is a common dessert of Filipino cuisine.

Ingredients

It consists of the basic ingredients of water ice ( Shave Ice), condensed milk, mung beans, kidney beans, chickpeas, coconut strips and plantains, which are complemented by region and taste with various other ingredients.

Examples of other ingredients are gelatin cubes ( or agar ), jackfruit, star apple ( Cainito ), tapioca, sago, nata de coco, Ube ( purple yam ), sweet potatoes and sweetcorn.

In more recent recipes Ice cream also used.

Importance

Halo - halo is now the best selling product of the Filipino fast food chain Chowking.

The Black Eyed Peas mention Halo - halo in their song Mare from their fifth studio album The END ( "Let me know what it takes to get close and mix like halo - halo" ).
