Haneen Zoabi

Hanin Zoabi (also: Hanin Zoabi Haneen Zoubi or, Arabic حنين زعبي, DMG Hanin to ʿ Bī; Hebrew חנין זועבי; * May 23 1969 in Nazareth ) is an Israeli politician, the Balad Party and since 2009 Members of Knesset.

Zoabi studied psychology and philosophy ( BA) at the University of Haifa and " Communications and Media" (MA) at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Zoabi is of Arab descent. She is the first woman of Arab List, which was elected to the Knesset.

In June 2010, Zoabi was after they participated in the Free Gaza convoy aboard the Mavi Marmara, was attacked in the Knesset and received death threats; their personal security was reinforced subsequently.

At the next General Assembly of the Knesset was decided by 34 to 16 votes to withdraw their three parliamentary privileges due to their participation in the flotilla: the right to a diplomatic passport, the right to financial support, should they need legal counsel, and the right countries to visit, to which Israel has no diplomatic relations.

For the parliamentary election on January 22, 2013 denied her the Election Commission to hold elective office for taking part in the Gaza aid flotilla. However, the Supreme Court of Israel rejected the decision of the Election Commission.
