Hannersdorf is a municipality in the district of Oberwart in Burgenland in Austria. The Hungarian name of the village is Sámfalva, the Croatian Šampovar.

Geography

The 850 inhabitants municipality located in Southern Burgenland 268 m above sea level.

Community structure

The municipality comprises the three villages (in brackets population as of 31 October 2011):

  • Castle (228 )
  • Hannersdorf (418 )
  • Woppendorf (133 )

The municipality comprises the cadastral castle, Hannersdorf and Woppendorf.

History

The place was like the rest of Burgenland to 1920/21 Hungary ( German West Hungary). Since 1898, had to be used because of Magyarization the government in Budapest the Hungarian name Sámfalva. After the end of World War II German West Hungary was awarded in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919 Austria after tough negotiations. The place belongs since 1921 to the newly founded State of Burgenland (see also history of Burgenland ). In 1971 the castle and Woppendorf communities were merged with Hannersdorf.

Blazon: Between black, divided by golden crenellated edges above and below abutting Roman stone with golden board and red box, golden growing it from a Akantheros a vine with four petals and four grapes.

Anniversary

The community Hannersdorf celebrated on 25 November 2006 at the parsonage under the motto " 600 years Hannersdorf " the existence of the community since 1406. On this occasion, the homepage of the community was first presented, and it has also issued a commemorative.

Sports

A significant role in village life plays the football club, SV Hannersdorf.

Economy and infrastructure

The largest operation of the community are the Pinkataler gravel works that employ many citizens. The Pinkataler Schotterwerke have quarries in Hannersdorf and castle.
