Hans Balatka

January Balatka (* February 26, 1825 in Olomouc, † April 17, 1899 in Chicago) was an Austrian-American composer of Moravian origin.

Balatka studied in Vienna with Simon Sechter and Heinrich Proch. In 1849 he emigrated to the United States. From 1851 to 1860 he directed a music club in Milwaukee, after which he worked as a conductor of the Philharmonic Society and the Musical Union in Chicago.

In addition to a choral cantata for he directed choirs, songs and orchestral fantasies are obtained from Balatka.
