Hans Hürlimann

Hans Hürlimann ( born April 6, 1918 in Walchwil, † 22 February 1994 train ) is a Swiss politician (CVP ) from the Canton train. As he was Federal Minister of the Interior and held once the Office of the President.

Career

He studied from 1939 to 1943 law in Bern and Freiburg and graduated with a doctorate. In 1946, he became the Zug prosecutor patent and was a legal adviser to the municipal administration of train. 1949-1954 he was employed as town clerk. In 1947 he was elected to the cantonal and 1954 in the State Council. At that time, the cantonal government was still a minor official, and Hans Hürlimann remained active as a lawyer. Until 1962 he was justice, police and military Director and then Director of Education. 1965/1966 he was also the Chief Magistrate. 1967 elected him the Zug voters in the Senate.

He was elected to the Federal Council on 5 December 1973, therefore, handed over his previous mandates. During his tenure, he stood in front of the Swiss Federal Department of Home Affairs. On December 31, 1982, he resigned.

He was President in 1979 and Vice President in 1978.

Legendary was a statement in the speech which he gave at the opening of the Gotthard road tunnel in 1980. He promised the affected population, the Gotthard road tunnel would " never be a corridor for heavy traffic ."

Thomas Hürlimann, the son of former Federal Council, is one of the most famous writers of Switzerland. In his novel Der grosse Kater he writes of a Spanish state visit and the resignation of his father Hans Hürlimann as president, nicknamed tomcat using (based on his nickname from my student time ). The film version of Der grosse Kater appeared in 2010 with Bruno Ganz in the lead role.
