Hans-Jürgen Pohmann

Hans -Jürgen Pohmann (* May 23, 1947 in Cologne ) is a former German tennis player and journalist.

Pohmann was born the son of tennis player Inge Pohmann. His achievements as a tennis player, he celebrated in the 1970s. In 1973 he won the Grand Prix tournaments in Berlin and Dusseldorf in singles. This season he reached Rank 30 also his highest placing in the tennis world rankings.

As a doubles player, he won together with his longtime playing partner Jürgen Fassbender five tournaments: 1972 in Kitzbühel, 1973 and 1974 in Hamburg, and in 1975 and 1976 in Gstaad. In 1973 both reached the semifinals of the French Open and two years later the semi-finals at Wimbledon.

Between 1971 and 1976 a total of 24 matches played Pohmann also as a member of the German Davis Cup team. From them he won 18, he celebrated the biggest success in 1971 with the entry in the final of Euro- zone.

After his retirement from competitive sports Pohmann to pursue a career as a sports journalist and has worked since 1981 as an editor, presenter and commentator for the sports editors of Sender Freies Berlin ( SFB) and Rundfunk Berlin -Brandenburg ( RBB). From 2005 until his retirement, end of December 2012, he worked for the RBB as sporting director.
