Hans von Berlepsch

Hans Hermann Carl Ludwig von Berlepsch ( born July 29, 1850 Good driving Bach at Witzenhausen, † February 27, 1915 in Göttingen ) was a German ornithologist.

(1829 - ) Berlepsch the elder son of the Baron, from 1869 Count Karl Friedrich Ludwig Hans von Berlepsch ( 1821-1893 ), landowner and member of the Prussian House of Lords, and his wife Johanna Margarete Theodore Koch was the daughter of Johann Hermann Hessian Minister of the Interior Koch. He studied zoology at the University of Halle. He used his inherited wealth to support bird collectors in South America, including Hermann von Jhering.

His collection of 55,000 birds was sold after his death to the Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt am Main. According to him, the Berlepsche ray bird of paradise, the Berlepschelfe and Berlepschtinamu were named.
