Harry Binswanger

Harry Binswanger ( born 1944 in Richmond, Virginia) is an American philosopher and writer. He is best known for his contributions to Objectivism by Ayn Rand.

Life

Binswanger earned a B. Sc. in Humanities and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he founded the student group Radicals for Capitalism. It was followed by a Ph.D. in philosophy from Columbia University. His dissertation dealt with a new theory about the goal-directedness of living organisms. 1972 to 1979 he taught philosophy at Hunter College in New York and was later also at various other universities in New York and at the University of Austin, Texas, works.

Binswanger was a close friend of Ayn Rand and is intensely concerned with their work. He lectured at over 40 universities for objectivism about on the subject of free will and consciousness and is editor and publisher of numerous books and writings by and about Ayn Rand, including the Ayn Rand Lexicon. From 1980 to 1987 he was editor and publisher of the magazine, The Objectivist Forum, which 48 issues are available as bound complete edition now. Currently, Binswanger is active on the Board of the company founded by Leonard Peikoff Ayn Rand Institute.

Binswanger 's advocates of open immigration policy. He argues that individual rights of the individual should not be limited by his nationality. For similar reasons, he considers capitalism to be the only system that guarantees real individual freedom. He is the author of numerous articles for the Capitalist Magazine.

Binswanger regarded as followers of atheism.
