Harry Dexter White

Harry Dexter White ( born October 9, 1892 in Boston, Massachusetts, † August 16, 1948 in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire) was an American economist and politician.

White, who came from a Jewish family in Lithuania, established the international monetary fund in 1944 at the Bretton Woods Conference. There he was American negotiator of the Treasury Henry Morgenthau and was able to largely prevail with its position against the British position John Maynard Keynes '. He is regarded as Elaborator of the Morgenthau Plan. White was deputy at the beginning of the McCarthy era U.S. Treasury.
