Harry Morgan

Henry " Harry " Morgan ( * as Harry Bratsburg on April 10, 1915 in Detroit, Michigan, † December 7, 2011 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American actor.

Life

Harry Morgan initially wanted to study law at the University of Chicago. But then he discovered his love of acting. He had his first appearance in the 1942 film To the Shores of Tripoli still under the name Henry Morgan. This he changed in the first half of the 1950s, not to be confused with a prominent radio comedian. In the early years of his career he played mainly supporting roles in westerns, detective stories, thrillers and war films. Particularly impressive was his performance in The Ox -Bow ( The Ox -Bow Incident, 1943) by William A. Wellman next to Henry Fonda and Dana Andrews. Several times he turned with director Anthony Mann and starring James Stewart. In 1960, another brilliant performance as a judge in Stanley Kramer's Inherit the Wind.

In 1960, he also played for the first time on television. He was the main actor in the two years running sitcom Pete and Gladys. His second wife, Barbara Bushman is the daughter of silent film stars Ralph Bushman and granddaughter of silent film star Francis X. Bushman.
