Hartmanice (Svitavy District)

Hartmanice ( German Hartmannitz ) is a municipality with 252 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It is located two kilometers southeast of the city Bystré and belongs to Okres Svitavy.

Geography

The village is 608 meters above sea level in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. Neighboring towns are Jedlova and Hamry in the north, Manova Lhota and Svojanov in the east, and Hlásnice Nyklovice in the south and Bystré in the West.

History

Hartmanice was probably founded in the 11th century. 1437, the place in the deed of gift of the reign of Emperor Sigismund Svojanov was first mentioned as a coronation dowry to his wife Barbara of Celje documented. After the division of Swojanower rule Hartmanice was until the abolition of patrimonial regimes in 1848 part of the Bistrauer rule and was then assigned to 1855, the political district Leitomischl.

1712 was purchased by Count Jakob Hannibal III. von Hohenems Bistrauer possession. A year later, a plague broke out, at the 36 inhabitants died. 1788 built Countess Marie Rebekah Josefa von Harrach, born in Hohenems Bistrau a school for the entire rule. From 1855 until its dissolution in 1960 belonged to the place, with a break of five years, as he was during the German occupation from 1940 to 1945 part of the district Boskowitz, the district Polička. 1867 began teaching at the village school.
