Haukur Angantýsson

Haukur Angantýsson (born 2 December 1948 in Flateyri; † 4, 2012 in Reykjavík ) was an Icelandic chess player.

Life

Haukur Angantýsson graduated from high school in Reykjavík and then studied until 1973 Chemistry at the Georg-August -Universität Göttingen. At the Nautical School in Reykjavík ( Sjómannaskólinn ) he was in 1975 deck officer. He then worked in a number of chemical, marine, and related professions.

Achievements

The Icelandic Individual Championship he won in 1976. In 1979 he won the 7th World Open in Philadelphia before Arthur Bisguier, Walter Browne, John Fedorowicz, Florin Gheorghiu and Tony Miles.

For the Icelandic national team, he played in four U26 Chess Olympiads (also students Olympiad called ), namely 1968 on in Ybbs an der Donau, 1969 in Dresden, 1970 in Haifa and 1974 in Teesside on the second and third board and at the Chess Olympiad 1970 in Siegen second reserve board. Chess club, he played in Germany in the 1970s and 1980s for the Delmenhorster chess club.

Since 1981, he bore the title of International Master. His Elo rating was 2274 in May 2012, its highest Elo rating was 2425 in 1980.
