19th Chess Olympiad
The 19th Chess Olympiad 1970 was held from 5 to 27 September 1970 in Siegen ( Germany).

It was attended by 60 teams, identified in six opening acts The teams for the Final Groups A to E. 360 players ( 35 Grandmasters and 66 International Masters ) took part in the competition. In both the opening acts as well as in the final group round robin tournaments were held. The first two teams each opening act qualified for the Final Group A
Tournament director was Willi Pohl from Germany. As Chief Judge Harry de Graaf acted from the Netherlands. The Chess Olympiad took place in the Siegerlandhalle. The cooling-off period was 40 moves in 150 minutes, then one hour for each 16 moves. The placement was determined on the basis of the board points (BP) and Team Points (MP).
