5th Chess Olympiad

The 5th Chess Olympiad took place from 12 to 23 June 1933, Folkestone (England) instead. Within the same framework, the World Chess Championship for women in 1933 held.

Survey

It was attended by 15 teams that determined the Olympic champion in a round-robin tournament. Germany this time was not represented. 71 players took part in the competition. The team tournament was played with four teams, where a replacement player was allowed. The Leas Cliff Hall (pictured) was the venue. The cooling-off period was two and a half hours for 40 moves, then one hour for each 16 moves. The rankings were decided on the basis of the board points (BP) and Team Points (MP).
