4th Chess Olympiad

The 4th Chess Olympiad was held from 11 to 26 July 1931 in Prague (Czechoslovakia). Within the same framework, the World Chess Championship for women in 1931 was held.

Survey

It was attended by 19 teams that determined the Olympic champion in a round-robin tournament. 93 players took part in the competition. The team tournament was played with four teams, where a replacement player was allowed. Tournament director was Vladimír Mrázik from Czechoslovakia. As Technical Director Josef Louma worked from Czechoslovakia. The cooling-off period was two hours for 40 moves. The rankings were decided on the basis of the board points (BP) and Team Points (MP).
