Havířov

The city Havířov (Polish Hawierzów ) is a town in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It was established in 1955 and is located in the Moravian-Silesian industrial area ( Ostravsko - Karvinsko ).

Geography

Havířov is located at the confluence of Susanka in the Lučina. To the north it borders on the mining regions Petřvald, Orlová and Karviná, on the west by the municipalities Šenov and Václavovice. The landscape is hilly and intersected with stream and river valleys. From west to east, the landscape crosses the railway line and highway Ostrava - Svinov to Český Těšín. Along the main road runs densely populated residential area.

History

The historical sources mention already in 1305 Horni Sucha and Dolni, as well as the neighboring Šenov ( Schönhof ). The first reliable evidence of the existence of the community Bludovice comes from the year 1335. 1438 will for the first time Šumbark mentioned. In the mid-16th century Šumbark is called a city, but it is not established that Šumbark really took the city rights.

The emergence of the city Havířov is related to the structure of the mining communities together on the territory of the municipalities Šumbark, Dolni Bludovice and Prostřední Sucha, while also parts of the corridors of Šenov were included. The settlement was raised by a government decision on December 4, 1955 city. The town's name was chosen in an open competition. Havíř (derived from the German, Hauer ') means in Czech miner. Havířov has a reputation as a city with a high quality residential areas and in comparison with other cities in the region of a clean environment and good recreational facilities.

In the city there is a Czech-German meeting center.
