Haw Par Villa

The Haw Par Villa ( Chinese:虎豹 别墅) is a park of Chinese fairy tales and myths in Singapore. It was built in 1937 for 1 million Singapore dollars and completed after two years of construction. The client was Aw Boon Haw, who ordered the compilation of the system as a residence for his younger brother Aw Boon Par.

The most famous product of the two brothers is the Tiger Balm, a worldwide available liniments. The original name of the park was (until 1985 ) Tiger Balm Gardens.

On the site there are more than 1,000 statues and 150 large representations about Chinese legends, folklore, and the teachings of Confucius. In 1985, the park was equipped with rides and special effects, which, however, did not have the hoped-for success. Meanwhile, they are no longer operated and returned to the land to its original state.

Besides the main attractions of the park, a copy of the famous Tiger Car can be visited. Originally a German NSU, built in 1927, with tiger stripes and a large tiger head as a cooler. The original was destroyed during the Japanese occupation of Singapore. The copy is a 1925er Buick, rebuilt according to old photos of the original.

Also on the grounds is home to the new Jadehaus ( Jade House ) with over 150 Jade Pieces from the collection of the two brothers is originated 1932-1939. The original of the Jadehauses was on the Nassim Road and was demolished in 1990.

Admission is free. Access to Jadehaus and the 10 Courts of Hell (10 Courts of Hell十 殿 阎罗) costs 1 SGD 0.50 SGD for adults and for children.
