Haynes International

Haynes International, Inc. is the name of a U.S. company, located in Kokomo (Indiana), which produces, among other highly corrosion resistant alloys.

History

The company was founded in 1912 by Elwood Haynes under the name Haynes Stellite Works in Kokomo, Indiana. In the late 1880s, Haynes experimented with different alloys to produce a corrosion-resistant material. After development of various alloys based on nickel and chromium, which he patented in 1912 he founded a foundry. 1920, the company was sold to Union Carbide. Today, Haynes International Inc. is listed on the NASDAQ under the symbol Hayn.
