Hearne is a city in Robertson County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located in east-central Texas to the U.S. Highways 79 and 190 in the south west of the county and has a total area of 10.6 km ² without significant water surface.

History

In 1840 built a Code Brown at the site of today's city tavern, which served as a stagecoach stop for travelers between Houston and Port Sullivan. At the same time, the tavern served as a general store and post office. Was named the city after Christopher C. Hearne, a cotton plantation owners in the area.

The average household size was 2.70 and the average family size was 3.31 persons to.

32.9 % of the population were under 18 years old, 9.1 % from 18 to 24, 24.3% 25-44, 18.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.1 % who were 65 years or older. The average age was 32 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 84.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 77.8 males.

The median income for a household was $ 19,556, and the median income for a family $ 25,538. Males have a median income of $ 24,013 versus $ 19,306 for females.
