Heckenmünster

Heckenmünster is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Wittlich -Land and is located at Meulenwald in the Eifel.

History

Heckenmünster was first around 1231 as " Villam, queer Monasterium appellatur " ( village Monasterium (monastery) is called ) mentioned. The place belonged to the rule breaking in the Duchy of Luxembourg, which was on the border of the Electorate of Trier. Beginning in 1794, Heckenmünster under French rule, 1815, the place on the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 he is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

Parish council

The local council in Heckenmünster consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

In the diagonally split front plate in silver a black Tatzenkreuz, back in silver four blue bars, topped with a red, gold -winning, growing lion.

Mineral springs

In Heckenmünster are two carbonated sources, also called acidulous: The Victoria - source and a sulfur source, called "Wall Born" (not to be confused with the about 25 km away Wall ends Born). From the Romans, the sources were used as baths; the waters of the Victoria source was bottled and sold earlier. Today, both sources are enclosed as well, but are no longer used commercially. In the valley of the brook Bender at the level of the local situation Heckenmünster you can still find a mineral spring with a high mineral and carbon dioxide content but with little bulk.
