Héctor Yazalde

Héctor Yazalde (* May 29, 1946 in Avellaneda, † June 18, 1997 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine football player.

The striker Héctor Yazalde began his professional career in 1967 at CA Independiente. With Independiente he was 1967 and 1970 champion of Argentina. In 1970 he was also elected the first to Argentine Footballer of the Year.

1971, he moved to Europe to Sporting Lisbon. With Sporting he was 1973 winner and 1974 Cup champion. In the 1973/74 season he made it to a European record of 46 goals in 30 league games. This record still exists today. Gerd Müller put it in his best season on 40 league goals. Yazalde got an automobile, which he sold and the proceeds shared with teammates for this success by a sponsor. 1975 Yazalde was again, this time with 30 goals, top scorer in Portugal.

1974 Yazalde was in the squad of the Argentinean national team for the World Cup 1974 in Germany. Here, he scored two goals in the group stage against Haiti. But Argentina was eliminated in the second final round. After the World Cup he finished his international career.

Yazalde played 1976/77 one more season for Olympique Marseille. Before he returned to Argentina and played there until 1981 in Rosario at Newell 's Old Boys. In 1981 he finished the bonarenser suburb Club CA Huracán his career.

During his time in Portugal, he married model and actress Maria there do Carmo da Ressurreição de Deus, which has since been known as Carmen Yazalde. Héctor Yazalde died in 1997 in Buenos Aires of a heart attack. He was buried in the cemetery Cementerio de la Chacarita.
