Hedda Eulenberg
Hedda owls Berg ( born March 6, 1876 in Meiderich, † September 13, 1960 in Kaiserwerth ) was a German translator and writer.
Life
Hedda owls mountain was born in 1876 in Duisburg Meiderich as the daughter of music director Wilhelm Maase. She made 1893 Abitur at the Luis Dusseldorf school and married in 1897 in Berlin the writer Arthur Moeller van den Bruck, whom she already knew from her school days in Dusseldorf. 1901 she met the poet Herbert Eulenberg occasion of the premiere of his play Munchausen in Berlin know. Arthur Moeller van den Bruck fled in the same year for political and economic reasons, to France.
In 1901 they released their ten-volume translation of the works of Edgar Allan Poe at JCC Bruns. 1902 appeared in Julius Bard Publishing as translations from French novels the love letters by Michel Provins and the wife of Jeanne Marni. 1903 appeared the translation of Germinal by Émile Zola as initial translation German by Reclam.
Hedda owls mountain was divorced in 1904 by Moeller van den Bruck and married Herbert Eulenberg. The couple moved in 1905 to Kaiserswerth in Dusseldorf, where owls Herbert Berg worked as a dramaturge at the Schauspielhaus under Louise Dumont. Until 1936, she worked in her new home as a translator of the works of Guy de Maupassant, Zola and Dickens, the Philip Reclam / Leipzig, JCC Bruns / Minden and Nymphenburg Publishing House / Munich were issued. In the same period she published numerous newspaper articles, mainly on the monism.
1936 began the persecution of Hedda and Herbert Eulenberg by the Nazis with the goal to destroy their economic and spiritual existence. After 1938 found Hedda Eulenberg no more German publisher, in which they could publish their work. Her brother Fritz was also pursued the nephew Klaus imprisoned in Buchenwald concentration camp, whose wife Doris Maase in the Ravensbrück concentration camp.
1945 came the first attempts to resume the aborted after 1936 cultural activity again. Appeared in 1952 her biography in the double happiness of art and life. In 1956, she was with translations of Henri Troyat, Yvette Guilbert and Thomas Burke, all Droste Verlag in Düsseldorf build, to their old job. On September 13, 1960, she died in Kaiserwerth in the "House freedom."
