Hedo Türkoğlu
Hidayet " Hedo " Türkoğlu ( born March 19, 1979 in Istanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish professional basketball player who played in the NBA for the Orlando Magic.
Türkoğlu is one of the most famous Turkish basketball player in the NBA. The Vice European Champion 2001 and Vice World Champion of 2010 was drafted by the Sacramento Kings ranked 16th in 2000. He previously played for the Istanbul club Efes Pilsen.
For his achievements in the first NBA year he was appointed to the NBA All- Rookie Second Team in 2001. After a total of rather inconspicuous early years in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs reached " Hedo " in the 2007/ 08 season, his first career highlight: He was out of the NBA for Most Improved Player (players with the biggest increase in performance compared to the previous season ) elected after he was named player of the month of April and twice the player of the week voted (27 January and 3 February ). Türkoğlu, who played his eighth NBA season, competed in all 82 games of the season in the starting lineup of his former team Orlando Magic and scored Karrierebestleistungen at points ( 19.5 per game - almost eight points more than his career average ), rebounds (5, 7 per game) and assists (5.0 per game ). After the missed title in 2009 he moved to the Toronto Raptors, where he had trouble finding his place in the game system. After a disappointing season, he moved in 2010 to the Phoenix Suns. On 18 December 2010 Türkoğlu was again traded to the Orlando Magic. On April 3, 2011, he broke through the 10,000-point mark in the game against the Toronto Raptors. He is the first Turkish player who has reached this mark.
In February 2013 he has been banned from the league for 20 games after he tested positive for the anabolic steroid methenolone.
For the 2013/2014 season stated Head Coach Jacque Vaughn, that the Magic no longer planning with Türkoğlu and he would incur no more games for the Magic. As He argued that Türkoğlu no longer fit into the clearly rejuvenated team. In January 2014, the Magic Türkoğlu dismissed from his contract according to the common rules of the NBA.
On January 16, 2014 he signed a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers to the end of the 2013/2014 season, where he debuted in 13 minutes on January 18 against the Indiana Pacers with 4 points, 2 rebounds and an assist.
Türkoğlu led the basketball team to the finals of the European Championships in 2001 and, as captain, the final of the 2010 World Cup in their own country.
