Hedwig of the Palatinate-Sulzbach

Marie Hedwig Auguste von Pfalz- Sulzbach ( born April 15, 1650 in Sulzbach, † November 23, 1681 in Hamburg) was a Countess Palatine of Sulzbach and by marriage successively Archduchess of Austria - Tyrol and Duchess of Saxe- Lauenburg.

Life

Hedwig was a daughter of the Duke and Count Palatine Christian August of Sulzbach (1622-1708) from his marriage to Amalie (1615-1669), daughter of Count Johann VII of Nassau-Siegen.

They married on June 3, 1665 per cura in the court orchestra of Archduke Sigismund Francis of Austria Sulzbach - Tyrol ( 1630-1665 ), who renounced after the death of his elder brother Ferdinand Karl on his ecclesiastical dignities, to get married. However, the actual consummation of the marriage, there was no more. Sigismund Franz, who wanted to meet his bride traveling on the way to the Tyrol, became seriously ill in Innsbruck and died twelve days after the marriage.

Her second husband was born on April 9, 1668 in Sulzbach Duke Julius Franz of Saxe- Lauenburg ( 1641-1689 ). As Hedwig one years for 20,000 guilders was assured from her first marriage, Julius Franz compared with the imperial court, in consequence of Hedwig received a lump sum.

Buried is Hedwig in Ostrov. Her father had erected a memorial stone on the occasion of her second marriage in the parish church Sulzbacher 1668.
