Heinrich von Tunna

Henry of Tunna called Henry Beard ( also Herman Bart, † June 2, 1209 ) was the third Grand Master of the Teutonic Order from 1208 to 1209.

He was a ministerial of the Landgrave Hermann I of Thuringia, Count Palatine of Saxony. He probably belonged to the family of Thüna.

1208, he accepted a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. To finance the trip, he left a property belonging to him as a wooded area on the Etter Mountain Monastery Reinhardsbrunn and got 10 marks of silver.

In Palestine, he joined the Teutonic Order and was even elected in the same year as High Master. The causes of its rapid ascent are unclear. He already died in 1209 and was buried in Acre.
