Heinrich XXVII, Prince Reuss Younger Line

Heinrich XXVII. Reuss Younger Line ( born November 10, 1858 in Gera, † November 21, 1928 ibid ) was the last reigning Prince Reuss and general of the cavalry during the First World War.

Life

Heinrich XXVII. was the son of Prince Heinrich XIV and Princess Agnes of Württemberg. He was from 1908 to 1918 the regent of the Principality of Reuss elder line, 1908-1913 Regent of the Principality of Reuss younger line and 1913-1918 reigning prince of Reuss Younger Line. The younger line 1902 had assumed the regency of the Principality of Reuss elder line because of this. Following the death of Heinrich XXII no government capable successor ( Heinrich XXIV ) had more. On 11 November 1918, had Heinrich XXVII. resign as a result of the November Revolution.

Heinrich XXVII. married 1884 Princess Elise of Hohenlohe- Langenburg and had with her five children:

  • Viktoria Feodora (1889-1918) ∞ 1917 Duke Adolf Friedrich of Mecklenburg
  • Luise Adelheid (1890-1951)
  • Heinrich XL. (1891-1891)
  • Heinrich XLIII. (1893-1912)
  • Heinrich XLV. (1895-1945)

After the death of Heinrich XXIV, the elder branch of the House of Reuss was extinguished in 1927, died with the death of Heinrich XLV. in 1945, the formerly ruling younger line. All still living members of the House of Reuss come from the former apanagierten sidelines Reuss- Koestritz. He was a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn since 1879.
