Helena Fromm

Helena Fromm ( * August 5, 1987 in Oeventrop ) is a German taekwondo. She is six -time German champion in the class up to 67 kg. In 2012 she won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games, in 2008 she became European Champion.

Fromm currently belongs to a soldier sport sports company in Sonthofen. It occurs at the PSV Eichstätt in competitions.

Career

Fromm grew up in the Sauerland Oeventrop. As a girl, she initially played handball and football. When in 1996 in her hometown, opened a sports school, her parents signed her up there. She was trained there by coach Roland Schültke to 2006 and registered in 1997 for the first competition in Taekwondo.

First international achievements came in 2003 with the European Junior Champion in Athens and 2004 with second place at the Junior World Championships in Suncheon. After the change in the senior level in 2005 was followed by winning the German Open and a second place at the Korean Open. In 2006 she moved to coach Carlos Esteves. In 2006 she was among the discharged in Bonn European Championships and took second in the rest of the season to their first league titles.

On Mariengymnasium in Arnsberg she made 2007 high school graduation. In the same year she won at the World Championships in Beijing with the bronze medal in the category up to 67 kg the only medal for the German Taekwondo Union ( DTU). On 29 September 2007 she retired at the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in the fight against European champion Gwladys Epangue a serious knee injury. After the necessary operation in April 2008, she celebrated winning the title at the European Championships in Rome a successful comeback. One and a half months later, it confirmed its performance by winning the World Military Championships.

On 15 July 2008, the German Olympic Sports Federation announced its participation in the Olympic Games. Since Ocasio Rodriguez not moved into the finals, Helena Fromm could not participate on the consolation round in a battle for the bronze medal.

Since 2009 she is a student in the degree program in International Management for top athletes at the FH Ansbach.

In 2011 she qualified for participating in her third world championships. As in 2007, she won the bronze medal at the World Taekwondo Championships 2011 Gyeongju, one of two Medals of the team of DTU. Sümeyye Manz and Helena Fromm are thus the only German Taekwondo Sportlerinnnen who could win medals at two Senior World Championships.

At the 2012 Olympic Games she won the bronze medal with a 8-2 win over Carmen Marton.

In May 2013 Helena Fromm announced a sport break on account of her pregnancy. On November 20, 2013 Fromm became a mother of a son.
