Distribution and habitat

Way of life

The immigrant from the south butterfly north of the Alps can not propagate because they do not survive the winter in Central Europe. In Southern Europe, the moths are found in several generations of April to November. The caterpillars feed on polyphagous of different plants. These include Jochblatt ( Zygophyllum ), globe thistle ( Echinops ) and rear cherry species ( Lonicera ). The species overwinters as a pupa.

Endangering

Heliothis nubigera very rarely flies to Germany as migrant moths and was detected only in a few states. Older reports from Baden- Württemberg proved to be misidentifications.
