Helmut Seibt

Helmut Seibt ( born June 25, 1929 in Vienna, † July 21, 1992 ) was an Austrian figure skater, who started in a single run. He is the European champion of 1951 and 1952.

Seibt was in the years 1950, 1951 and 1952 Austrian champion in figure skating. After winning the bronze medal at the European Championships in 1949 and the silver medal in 1950, 1951 and 1952 he was European champion. In 1951 he also won the bronze medal behind the Americans Richard Button and James Grogan in the World Cup. At the Olympic Winter Games 1952 in Oslo he could Grogan defeat and won the silver medal behind Button.

Before his successes in individual he took the end of the forties in part together with Susi Giebsch to pair skating competitions, but without achieving top rankings.

In honor of Helmut Seibt is held annually a great national figure skating event, the Helmut Seibt Memorial.
