Helsinki Stock Exchange

The Exchange Helsinki (in Finnish Helsingin Pörssi, Swedish Helsingforsbörsen; operates under the name NASDAQ OMX Helsinki Ltd) is the stock exchange in the Finnish capital, Helsinki, and since 2003 100 - percent subsidiary of NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc., an American- Scandinavian Shared Stock Exchange.

Background

The stock exchange is located in a building in the Fabianinkatu, which was built in 1911 by architect Lars Sonck.

As OMX Helsinki stock index of the Helsinki Stock Exchange 25 ( OMXH25 ) is called. It contains the 25 most traded stocks. The OMXH25 is sometimes performed even under its old name HEX25.

History

The Helsinki Stock Exchange conducted its first transaction on October 7, 1912. Since its inception, it was an independent financial organization. It was not until 1984, she was transferred to a cooperative whose new owner banks, merchants, companies and associations were. On April 1, 1990, the digital system HETI ( Helsinki Stock Exchange Automated Trading and Information System) was introduced, which replaced the mechanical trade panel which originally dates back to 1935. In autumn 1995, the cooperative was converted into a limited liability company ( Helsingin Arvopaperipörssi ) and merged in 1997 with various securities companies and associations. In 1997/ 98, the stock market bought two derivatives exchanges and merged it with itself HEX. In November 1998 there was a further merger with the HEX Arvopaperikeskus and traded under the name Helsinki Exchanges Group Plc. In the years 2001/02 HEX acquired the majority in the two Baltic stock exchanges in Tallinn and Riga.

On 3 September 2003, the HEX Plc combined with the OM Stockholm AB from the OM HEX. A year later it was renamed OMX. Since the acquisition by NASDAQ stock exchange is now called NASDAQ OMX Helsinki.

In February 2008, was acquired by NASDAQ OMX.
