Hendrik Martenszoon Sorgh

Hendrik Martensz. Sorgh (* 1611 in Rotterdam, † before June 28, 1670 ) was a Dutch painter.

Sorgh in Rotterdam was a pupil of Willem Pietersz. Buytewech. He has biblical representations in genre -like view (eg, the Adoration of the Shepherds, in St. Petersburg, the parable of the vineyard of the Lord, in Dresden) and genre pictures from the life of the people (fish and vegetable markets, interiors with figures ), but also Marines and riverfront painted, some show the influence of Cornelis Saftleven and are characterized by delicacy of color and vibrancy of the display.

Sorgh died 1670 in Rotterdam, where he was buried on June 28.
