Henk Badings
Henk ( Hendrik ) Herman Bading ( born January 17, 1907 in Badoeng, Dutch East Indies, † June 26, 1987 in Maarheeze, Brabant, The Netherlands) was a Dutch composer.

Work
Bading was born on the island of Java in Indonesia today. He was one of the leading composers of the 20th century in the Netherlands. In 1930 he studied at the Technical University in Delft and graduated mining engineer with summa cum laude. Therefore, he worked as an assistant in the Department of Historical Geology and Paleontology. In his spare time he worked more and more with music and formed autodidactically. This resulted in a contact with Pijper, the former conductor of the Concertgebouw Orchestra.
In 1934 he was appointed as a teacher of composition at the Conservatory Holthaus in Rotterdam, went the following year at the Music Lyceum in Amsterdam. After the German occupation of the Netherlands 1941, he was dismissed by the Dutch collaborators to succeed the Jews Sem Dresden Head of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and in 1945. After the Second World War Bading work is marked by the intensive study of electronic music. This resulted in a considerable number of compositions in the art. He was the head of a scientific laboratory of Philips and received radiophonic and electronic work orders. 1961 appointed him to the Imperial University of Utrecht lecturer for acoustic and electronic music.
In 1962 he was appointed professor of composition at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart. He also was a visiting professor at the University of Adelaide, Australia and Pittsburgh, USA.
Henk Bading oeuvre comprises some 1,000 works, where it covers almost all areas of compositional work. Initially, his compositions were influenced in style and the art of the French music of the 1920s to their establishment Pijper lent his hand. Later, the influence of the late German romantics ( Richard Strauss) felt. From 1950 integrated Bading Electronic Music in numerous compositions and experimented with a 31 - tone system ( contrasts for Choir and the String Quartet No. 4). Through all style developments through he remained the ideals of Pijper and Paul Hindemith faithful.
He has received numerous prizes and awards. Since 1972, he lived modestly and withdrawn near the town Maarheeze in the Dutch province of Brabant.
