Henri van Dievoet

Henri van Dievoet ( born January 19, 1869 in Brussels, † April 24, 1931 ) was a Belgian architect.

Life

Van Dievoet comes from an old Brussels patrician family. One of his ancestors was the sculptor Peter van Dievoet. He is the brother of Art Nouveau painter and decorator Gabriel van Dievoet. The architect Joseph Poelaert was his great uncle. He was married to Ernestine Eugenie Hortense Clémence Masson.

His first work was in 1889 a house and studio of the artist Felix Rodberg (now Washington Straat 30 in Ixelles / Elsene ). In 1890 he participated in the Salon d' Architecture de l'Exposition des Beaux- Arts de Bruxelles, as well as Victor Horta and Maurice Van Ysendijck. In 1894 he won the Grand Prize of Architecture of the City of Brussels with his plan for Parliament Building in constitutional government. Since 1910 he was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. From 1924 to 1931 he taught architectural drawing and perspective at the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint-Gilles.
