Henry Bishop (composer)

Henry Rowley Bishop ( born November 18, 1786 in London, † April 30, 1855 ) was an English composer. Particularly well known are his songs Home! Sweet Home! from the opera Clari, or the Maid of Milan and Lo, Hear the Gentle Lark of Bishops setting of the Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare.

1842 Bishop was appointed Knight Bachelor, as the first composer ever, the was bestowed this award.
