Henry E. Holt

Henry E. Holt ( born 1929 ) is an American geologist, planetary scientist and astronomer who worked at the U.S. Geological Survey and the University of Arizona. He examined mainly properties of the lunar surface. After his retirement from the Geological Survey he participated in the Palomar Asteroid and Comet Survey.

Holt discovered so far 669 asteroids, including ( 4581 ) Asclepius (5261) and Eureka ( 6914 ) becquerels. Together with other astronomers, he discovered the periodic comet 121P/Shoemaker-Holt, 127P/Holt-Olmstead and 128P/Shoemaker-Holt.

To his credit, the asteroid ( 4435 ) Holt was named.
